Grace Lee Mason Quillian, of Charleston, SC, widow of Eugene L. Quillian, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, October 16th, surrounded by her loving family. She requested this notice to be short and sweet (just like she was). The family will receive friends Monday, October 20th at 11:00 a.m. at Church Creek Presbyterian Church, followed by a service at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
Grace Lee was born in Charleston on June 10, 1927, daughter of Frederick C. Mason and Grace G. Mason. She discovered a love of travel at a young age, which continued throughout her life. An early career with Delta Airlines led to meeting Gene, her husband of 52 years. As an Army wife, they lived in Frankfurt, Germany and Naples, Italy. Returning to Charleston, she continued to see the world with her family and friends, visiting England, Japan, Russia, Israel and countless other locales. But she always came home to Charleston.
She is survived by three children, Elizabeth Q. Rann (David) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Bonnie Q. Dusenbury (Skip) of Laurel, MD and Tim Quillian of Tokyo, Japan; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren - and two on the way!
Her family thanks the doctors, nurses and staff at Roper/St. Francis Hospital and Roper Hospice for their wonderful support in helping to make her final journey as pleasant and painless as possible.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church Creek Building Fund, 2234 Plainview Road, Charleston 29414 or Roper Hospice, 1483 Tobias Gadson Blvd, Suite 208A, Charleston, 29407.
