Grace Carrigg Gunnells, 93, of Ladson, SC, widow of Floyd Gunnells, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, January 26, 2022. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, February 5, 2022 in the J. Henry Stuhr Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Rd., North Charleston at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, 7113 Rivers Ave. in North Charleston. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel.
Grace was born January 1, 1929 in Orangeburg, SC, daughter of the late Effie Clifton Carrigg and Rosella Hoover Carrigg. She was a Seamstress working in the textile industry, making clothing for children. Grace was a loving mother and friend, who was very loved by her family. Her smile would light up the room! In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening. Grace loved her flowers and many types of vegetables that she would plant, pick, can and store for her family and others. She was also a charter member of Midway Baptist Church and loved the Lord.
She is survived by her children; one daughter, Cheryl Gunnells (Charles) Kent; two sons, Eugene "Gene" (Kim) Gunnells, Larry Gunnells and Renee Grooms, who was like a daughter to her; seven grandchildren, Leif (Andrea) Erickson, Rhonda (Hiram) Kent, Steve (Lisa) Gunnells, Kim (Danny) Smith, Amanda (Robert) Kortekamp, James Gunnells and Justin Gunnells; eleven great-grandchildren, Brandon (Frankie) Erickson, Austin and Bryson Erickson, Aura Belt, Ethan Belt, Abi Gunnells, Savanna Sundee, Chris (Amanda) Morris, Cody (Taylor) Morris, Courtney Morris and Makenna Gunnells; three great-great grandchildren, Mason Erickson, Colton Morris and Cody Morris, Jr.; brother, Leroy (Vivian) Carrigg; sisters, Patricia (Rollis) Evans and Brenda (Willie) Bell; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Kathryn Rosemary and siblings, Wallace, Elvin, David, Reuben, Leon, Von and Lillian.
