Grace Christensen was born on June 20, 2010, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Craig Elias Christensen and Natasha Christensen of Summerville, South Carolina. She attended Cane Bay High School and Wando High School in Mount Pleasant, SC, as well as schools in Sioux Falls, SD. Grace was a dedicated student and a passionate volleyball player who excelled both academically and athletically.
Grace deeply loved her family. She cherished outdoor moments with her sisters, Emma and Mila-whether practicing volleyball or trying out new baking ideas they discovered on TikTok. The ocean held a special place in her heart, and our family created countless joyful memories at the beach. From a young age, Grace adored shopping, a tradition that grew with her and brought us so much happiness. Her favorite color, pink, beautifully reflected her vibrant and joyful spirit. She especially cherished driving lessons with her dad and looked forward with excitement to the day she could take the wheel on her own.
Throughout her life, Grace formed lasting friendships in Mount Pleasant, Summerville, and her hometown of Sioux Falls. She loved attending local games and playing volleyball with her friends. Her volleyball journey began in elementary school and continued through Cane Bay High School, Wando High School, MVP Club, Sand Volleyball, Sanford Sports Academy, and Harrisburg in Sioux Falls. Her teammates were more than just players-they became her second family.
Sweet Grace, you were one of our most precious gifts. From the moment you entered our lives, you filled them with joy, hope, and a love that words can scarcely capture. You dreamed fearlessly, loved wholeheartedly, and touched everyone with your pure and generous spirit. Your radiant smile could brighten even the darkest days. Though your time with us was far too brief, your legacy will live on in our hearts forever. We love you endlessly, our sweet girl.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by siblings: Emma Clair Christensen (13) and Mila Rose Christensen (9) both of Summerville; grandparents: Mike and Luda Schanzenbach of Souix Falls, SD, and Mary Christensen of Sioux Falls, SD, and Vladimir and Lena Chachanko of Chicago, IL; great grandmother, Paulette Schock; uncles and aunts: Chris and Laurie Christensen, Chad and Lori Christensen, Carrie and Paul Clarke, Yuri Chachanko, Alex Chachanko, David and Hanna Chachanko, Jordan and Marissa Schanzenbach, and Semeon Chachanko; cousins: Ella, Cole, Sophia, Ava, Lilly, Maddy, Shane, Jack, Ben (Brie), Esme, Sloan, Olivia, Cam. She was preceded in death by grandfather, Steven Christensen; uncle, Curt Christensen; and great grandparents: Anatoly and Vera Klimchuck.
