Gloria was born October 28, 1938, in Columbia, SC, a daughter of the late Wyman B. Phillips and the late Pauline Lavender Phillips. She and her brother, the late Wyman Phillips Amsler, were adopted by the late Lt. Donald Amsler after their mother remarried following their father’s death. She was a member of Charleston Baptist Church and the women’s Sunday School class. Additionally, she taught four-year-old kindergarten for eight years. She loved animals, especially her cats. She and Jim loved to travel with friends and enjoyed many cruises and vacations together.

Rodgers, Jr. (Stacy); her seven grandchildren, Eric Espey, Frampton Toole IV, Meredith Espey Kaufman (Kyle), Rachel Espey Weber (Steven), Madalyn Smith Fish (Andrew), Shelby Ann Rodgers and Annaclair Turner Rodgers; and eight great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Oaks of Charleston and Agape Hospice for their care over the last two years.
