Gloria Jean Jennette, 84, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Saturday, February 28, 2026. Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2026 in Point Hope Methodist Church, 3404 Turgot Lane at 10:00 am. Interment will immediately follow at Wilson Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 3, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.
Gloria was born September 23, 1941 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Arthur Elliott Cantey and Sadie Morris Cantey.
Gloria enjoyed family and community events, always surrounding herself with those she loved most, never failing to brighten the room. In her free time, she was a talented seamstress and a wonderful southern cook. Well traveled, Gloria shared her love and joy with many, even guiding travel groups around the United States. When she wasn't traveling, her own home was a place of rest and laughter for many throughout the years, sharing meals, stories and love with anyone who needed it. Gloria was married to the love of her life, Skip, for over 65 years, and they were separated by death for a mere six weeks.
She is survived by children, Adrienne Jennette Lauder and her husband, Bruce and Norton Winton Jennette II and his wife, Lynn, all of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Gloria was a loving grandmother to Elizabeth Lauder Margosian and her husband, David, and Daniel Bruce Lauder and his wife, Kaitie, along with two great-grandchildren, Grace and Christian. She is also survived by a sister, Virginia Murrell as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved husband Norton Skip Winton Jennette, and siblings Duane Cantey and Barbara Hunter.
Memorials may be made to Point Hope Methodist Church.
