Gloria Gilbert Buckheister Irwin, 94, of Mt Pleasant, South Carolina, first married to the late John Buckheister and widow of Reese Irwin, entered The Church Triumphant on Saturday, July 29, 2023.

Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, August 2, 2023 in All Saints Lutheran Church, 2107 N. Highway 17, Mt. Pleasant, at 3:00 pm. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery, 10 Cunnington Ave., Charleston. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 1, 2023 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel from 5:00 until 7:00 pm.

Gloria was born August 19, 1928 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late George Wagner Gilbert and Ivy Doig Gilbert.  She retired as a Customer Service Representative with South Carolina Electric and Gas. She was a long-time member of the Elks Does, and a volunteer at Roper Hospital. She served as Board Member of the Sand Dunes Club, and was a former Sunshine Lady for Franke at Seaside, where she resided. She was an active member of All Saints Lutheran Church, where she served for many years as co-chair of the Single Ladies Lunch Group. She will be best remembered for her style, quick wit, and love for her family.  

She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Swails and husband Billy of Mt Pleasant, SC, Pam Subjek and husband John of Mt Pleasant, SC, and Joni Suggs and husband Rick of Charleston, SC; four grandchildren, Shauna Nelson, Brooke Dunn, Michelle Austin, and Richard Suggs, Jr.; and eight great-grandchildren, Logan Nelson, Lauren Nelson, Maryn Austin, Ivy Austin, Blake Dunn, Jr., Riley Dunn, Thaddeus Suggs, and Mackenna Suggs, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
