Gloria Jordan Borgen, James Island, South Carolina, wife of Irvind Borgen, went straight from the center of her loving family into Jesus' waiting arms on Thursday, March 27, 2014.
Her Funeral Services will be held in Cokesbury United Methodist Church, 4990 Dorchester Road, North Charleston, Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends Friday, March 28, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m at Cokesbury United Methodist Church. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Born October 5, 1946, in Charleston, she was the daughter of Dorothy Mixson Jordan and the late J. T. Jordan. As the wife of her beloved Irvind, she lived life to the fullest, honoring God and family and country with all of her passionate soul. She enjoyed participating in Patriot Guard activities and worked in many ways behind the scenes to help our veterans and their loved ones. A Mensa member, Gloria was devoted to learning and used her talents generously to tell the rest of the story.Gloria attended Garrett and Chicora high schools and graduated from Hanahan High School in 1964. A 1968 graduate of Winthrop College, she taught school for 10 years, including several years at Bonds-Wilson High School. She worked at the US Post Office until retirement in 2003.
In addition to her husband and mother, Gloria is survived by daughters, Erin (and husband Steven) Doak of Garner, NC, and Meredith Grubbs of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren: Jordan Hammond, Kyle (and husband David) Sholes, Nolan and Owen Doak; great-granddaughter, Ally Sholes; sisters, Beverly Phillips (and husband Wayne) and Glenda Ward (and husband Billy).
