Glen Kinard, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many, age 64, of Edisto Island and Allendale, South Carolina, passed on Sunday, November 3, 2013. His Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Allendale, SC at 11:00 a.m. with reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. Arrangements by J. Glen was born August 26, 1949, in Allendale, SC, son of Harry Turner Kinard and Lois Allen Kinard. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and previously served as a Commissioner for the South Carolina Department of Agriculture. Glen's career as a lifelong entrepreneur spanned numerous businesses including restaurants, a produce brokerage firm and real estate developments.
He is survived by his two daughters, Kelley Kinard Mallard (Patrick) and Shana Kinard Stockton (Bobby); granddaughter Emorie Ann Stockton all of Charleston, SC; two sisters, Bettie Kinard Cox of Allendale, SC and Linda Kinard Freeman (Earl) of Hampton, SC; two brothers, Harry Neal Kinard of Denmark, SC and Heyward Mack Kinard (Patricia) of Allendale, SC; sister-in-law Judy Ponds Kinard of Allendale, SC; special friend Sallie Elizabeth Wasden of Millen, GA, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister Georgia Kinard Grainger and brother Clyde Allen Kinard.
