Gladys Allen Bunn, 85, of Mount Pleasant, SC, formerly of Charlotte, NC, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014.
Mrs. Bunn was born February 11, 1929, in Winslow, Indiana, to the late Pearl White Allen and Minnie Colson Allen. Mrs. Bunn was a beautiful and faithful servant of the Lord she loved. She was a charter member of Point Hope UMC in Mount Pleasant and formerly a member at the "old" Belmont Park UMC in Charlotte, where she taught kindergarten Sunday School for 24 years; she was also a charter member of University City UMC in Charlotte. She enjoyed being outdoors in God's sanctuary, gardening and swinging, working and praying. She lived and loved wholeheartedly--such a sweet, sweet spirit.
She was a devoted wife, and beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by a daughter, Gloria Squires (Mike), Mount Pleasant, SC; sons, Richard Bunn, Albemarle, NC, Larry Bunn, Charlotte, NC, and James Bunn Sr. (Millie), Edenton, NC; grandchildren, Damon Hensley (Tammie), Jason Washburn (Chassity), Ellie Smith (Chad), Heidi Bunn, Tara Womble (Josh), Katie Forehand (Danny), Bristol Gurganious (Ryan), James Bunn Jr. (Katie), Marshall Bunn (Betty Jean), Dakota Bunn, Ambriel Bunn, Frisco Bunn, Oaklyn Bunn, Slade Bunn; and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Ralph Allen Bunn, and a granddaughter, Stacey Hensley. Surviving siblings are Daisy Ward (Emory), Cynthia Almond, Kitty Barnes (Wiley), and Kirby Allen (Pat).
The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 6, 2014 in J. HENRY STUHR, MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL at 7:30 p.m. Rev. Walter Cantwell officiating. The family will receive friends at the Chapel from 6:30 until time of the service. The graveside service will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014 in Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at J. B. Tallent Funeral Service, 1937 Sharon Amity Road, Charlotte, NC from 1:00 until time of the service.
