Luceil was born June 19, 1921 in Kings Creek, South Carolina, daughter of the late William Earl Spencer and the late Nancy Anna Wilson Spencer. She is survived by daughter, Connie Best (Paul Harrison) of Mount Pleasant, SC; son, Woody Best of Moncks Corner, SC; one grandchild, Lucy Harrison Padron (Richard) of Charleston; one sister, Nelle Allen (Raymond) of Charleston, SC; several nephews and nieces. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Ingle and Lois Catherine Wiggins and brother Leonard Dean Spencer.
Luceil had a wonderful and full life. She met the love of her life, Bill, while living in Gaffney, SC. After they married, they had the opportunity to live in Mississippi, Arizona, Japan, Texas, and Charleston due to location assignments while Bill was in the Air Force. Luceil really enjoyed being a military spouse and mother. She worked full time wherever they were living, including Charleston Air Force Base in personal management at Non-Appropriated Fund Office where she made many friends over her 30-year career. Luceil was a member of several fraternal organization including Daughters of the Nile (Past Queen, Milcah Temple #77), Order of the Eastern Star (Past Worthy Matron, Schertz #911 & the Charleston chapter), Order of the Amarnath (Past Royal Matron, Lawrence Howell Court #7), and Order of the White Shrine.
Although she always worked full time, she still had time to be a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, chaperone class field trips for her two children, and was active in church. Luceil always made time to help others; whether it was visiting shut-ins, volunteering at Roper Hospital, or helping with spaghetti suppers at the Masonic Lodge. She was loved by many.
Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be sent in honor of Luceil to Milcah Temple #77; 8335 Whitsell St. North Charleston, SC 29405.
