Gertrude Cole Dugan, 99, of Rocky Mount, NC, formerly of Hanahan, SC and widow of Emmanuel Nelson Dugan, Sr. died Tuesday, October 7, 2014. Her graveside funeral service will be held Sunday, October 12, 2014 in the Carolina Memorial Park, 7113 Rivers Avenue at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30 am to 1:30 pm in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road.

Gertrude was born February 6, 1915 in Turbeville, SC, daughter of the late Henry Walton Cole and the late Annie V. Punt Cole. She was a former Telephone Operator with Bell Telephone, a member of North Charleston United Methodist Church and was married to Nelson for 70 years.

She is survived by her son, E. Nelson Dugan Jr. (Judy) of Rocky Mount, NC; two grandchildren, Mark N. Dugan and Melanie D. Strickland both of Rocky Mount, NC; four great-grandchildren: Brandee Dugan, Sarah Dugan, Hannah Strickland and Jessica Strickland. She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse; and three brothers: Fred Cole, Furman Cole and Henry Cole.
