NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road at 2:00 p.m. Interment, Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 p.m until 8:00 p.m. in the Northwoods Chapel.
Gertrude was born November 29, 1937 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Richard Edward Sillivant and Agnes Elsey Sillivant. She was a member of Wando Woods Baptist Church for almost 60 years, active in the Wando Woods Sunday School, "Keenagers" and WMU. She was a member of the Petal Pushers and Wando Woods Garden Clubs, Clemson Extension Homemakers Club, and a 4-H Leader. She worked as a telephone operator in her early twenties and attended nursing school at Roper Hospital. Gertrude loved to travel with her husband and her church friends. She visited with shut-ins and always gave of herself and her time to others with willingness and joy.
She is survived by her son, David D. Clayton, Jr. of North Charleston, SC; daughter, Sherri Clayton Ranta and her husband Jeffrey of Conway, SC; brother-in-law, Clyde H. Clayton and his wife Eleanor of North Charleston, SC; two sisters-in-law: Mary "Pat" E. Seabrook of Cape May, NJ and Nell C. Dearman of Mansfield, TX; three grandchildren: Matthew David Clayton, Ashley Shannon Ranta and Joshua Clayton Ranta; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her brothers Richard E. Sillivant, Gordon S. Sillivant and Ronald F. Sillivant.
