Gertrude E. Albertson

September 17, 1925 — November 18, 2010

Gertrude "Evelyn" Albertson beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Thursday, November 18, 2010 at the age of 85.  Mrs. Albertson was born September 17, 1925.  Mrs. Albertson was employed by the City of Charleston and retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard.  


Mrs. Albertson was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.  Mrs. Albertson was a member of the Charleston Rifle Club, Ladies Auxiliary and was a volunteer at St. Frances and Trident Hospitals.


Mrs. Albertson was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Harold L. "Bud" Albertson; a daughter, Terrie Davis; her father, Roy B. Sandefur; mother, Maude Marie Sandefur; and brother, Burl Sandefur.  She is survived by three daughters:  Lucinda and husband Steve Osborn of Irmo, SC; Jacqueline and husband Nathan Davis of Charleston, SC; and Billie Caudill of Jonesville, NC; two sons, Robert H. Albertson and wife Donna of Goldsboro, NC and David J. Albertson and wife Marianne of Goose Creek, SC; eighteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.


She was the glue that held the family together and she and her husband "Bud" will be remembered with joy by her extended family and friends.


The funeral service will be held in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, Sunday, November 21, 2010 at 2:00 PM.  Interment to follow at Live Oak Memorial Masonic Garden.  The family will receive friends in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel Saturday, November 20, 2010 between 5:00 and 7:00 PM.
