Gerald John Senf

May 15, 1937 — August 23, 2011

Gerald John Senf, 74, husband of Jeanne Marie(Jamey) Messersmith  Senf left this earth to be with his Lord and Saviour on August 23, 2011. Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Service, in his honor, on September 2, 2011, 4:00 PM, at St Andrews Church, Mt Pleasant. A reception for family and friends will follow the Memorial  Service at St. Andrews Church.  


Jerry was born on May 15, 1937 in Niagara Falls, NY.  He was the son of the late Wilton and Elizabeth Senf. Jerry was a graduate of LaSalle High School and received his Architectural Degree from Syracuse University in 1962.  Jerry took a very active role in his children's lives.  He was a football, soccer and basketball coach as well as an orchestra, gymnastics and cheerleading father.  He was active in the athletics booster program at both Lewiston Porter High School and Wando High School.  Jerry had a deep faith which led him to lend his professional abilities to organizations like Habitat for Humanity and Water Missions.  He was a member of the Vestry at St. Andrews Church of Mt. Pleasant.  He served on the International Missions Committee and traveled to Shirya Hospital in Rawanda, Africa. He also served on the Buildings and Grounds Committee and was instrumental in the renovation of St. Andrew's Historic Church in Mt. Pleasant, SC.   Professionally, he worked as an Architect in the Niagara Falls area until 1978 when he moved to Nashville, TN and then to Charleston, SC, where he worked for Lucas and Stubbs.  He spent three years working as an Architect/Project Manager for the State Department redeveloping U.S. Embassies around the world.  He ended his professional career in private practice in Mt. Pleasant, SC.  


 He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jamey, sisters, Nancy and Diane, children Todd Senf (Martha) of Mt. Pleasant,  Dr. Scott Senf (Jennifer) of Mt. Pleasant and Dr. Lisa Graham (John) of Duluth, MN and 10 adoring grandchildren Matt (Lenna), Kelly, Erik, Katie, Caroline, Christian, Emma, Ryley, Michael, Allie.


 In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the International Missions Committee, St. Andrew's Church Mount Pleasant, 440 Whilden Street, Mt. Pleasant, SC  29464 or Water Missions International, 2049 Savannah Highway, Charleston, SC  29407.
