Gerald K. Platt, Sr., 90, of Ravenel, South Carolina, husband of the late Nellie Rae Platt, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 6, 2026. His graveside service will be held Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 11:00 am in Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road. Arrangements are by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel.

Gerald was born December 8, 1935, in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Quillie and Allie Mae Platt. He retired from Charleston Naval Shipyard, and was a veteran of the United States Army. Gerald was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his son, Gerald Platt, Jr.; daughter, Valerie Durr; grandson, Timothy Durr; sister, Cheryl Mae Ellis (Bruce); and brother, Bruce W. Platt.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Quillie Platt, Bobby Platt, and Maxine Postell.
