Gerald Malcolm Parsons

Gerald "Jerry" Malcolm Parsons, 72, husband of Carolyn Jean Gaydos Parsons of Mt. Pleasant, SC passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 following a courageous battle with cancer.  The relatives and friends of Gerald "Jerry" Parsons are invited to attend a celebration of Jerry's life on Sunday, November 7, 2010 in J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road in Mt. Pleasant, SC at 1:30 p.m.  A reception will follow the service. Jerry was born on November 22, 1937 in Maysville, North Carolina.  He was the son of the late Joseph Robert "Bob" Parsons and Rachael Elizabeth Provow Parsons. He served in the United States Air Force and retired after serving his country for 22 years.  He then went on to be employed by the Federal Judiciary in Washington, DC and Little Rock, AR for 16 years.  In 1992, just after reaching his dream of obtaining his pilot's license, Jerry retired a second and final time to coastal Charleston, SC. Jerry is survived by his wife, Carolyn J. Parsons of Mt. Pleasant, SC; sister, Marie Simpson and her husband, Frank, of Aiken, SC; brother, Randolph Parsons and his wife, Helen, of Tobaccoville, NC; two daughters from a previous marriage to Marie Lovett, Janice Amen and her husband, John, of Waldorf, MD and Lauri Croghan and her husband, David, of Westminster, MD; a step-son, Major Sean Riley, USMC and his wife, Traci, of Bealeton, VA and step-daughter, Shannon Riley Morgan and her husband, Paul, of Columbus, IN. Jerry was also blessed by the love of eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Jerry's honor to Hospice of Charleston Foundation, 676 Wando Park Blvd., Mt. Pleasant, SC  29464.
