Georgina "Geannie" Elizabeth Copeland Stuckey, 80, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024 from a long struggle with dementia. She is now in eternal peace.
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late George Randolph Copeland, Jr. and Gertrude Betty Jones Copeland. Geannie attended Grady Hospital School of Nursing in Atlanta, Georgia where she met Henry. They married in 1963 when she was twenty years old. Then, she began her life as a devoted wife and mother of 3 children.
Geannie was an active parishioner with Christ Episcopal Church in Charlotte. In 1988, she completed a certificate in Theological Education by Extension, Education for Ministry from the University South School of Theology. Geannie worked alongside her husband Henry in his internal medicine physician practice until he retired. She returned to nursing school and graduated with honors from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Charlotte.
Geannie thoroughly enjoyed her retirement years in Callawassie Island, Beaufort, SC, especially the time with her five grandchildren. She was active tutoring, volunteering, joining clubs, making friends, playing tennis, and traveling in their motor coach. Geannie loved to read, cook and entertain.
She was preceded in death by her former husband of 58 years, Henry Jefferson Stuckey II and her brother Randolph Glen Copeland.
Geannie is survived by her two siblings: Florence Rosemary Copeland Adams and Susan Jane Copeland Lee; her three children: Henry Jefferson Stuckey III of Los Angeles, CA, George Randolph Stuckey (Melissa) of Charleston, SC, and Julie Anne Stuckey Hani (Erwin) of Asheville, NC; and her five grandchildren: Jordan Chandler Brown Stuckey, John Thompson Stuckey, Joseph Randolph Hani, Tyler Erwin Hani, and Preston Henry Hani.
Her funeral service will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024 in The Church of the Holy Cross, 299 Seven Farms Drive, Daniel Island, SC 29492 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Old St. Andrew’s Parish Churchyard, 2604 Ashley River Road. Charleston, SC.
