Georgeann Biel Dempsey, 76, of Charleston, SC and Asheville, NC, wife of Bill Levon Dempsey entered into eternal rest,Thursday, December 19, 2013. A Celebration of her life will be held in the Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Sunday, December 22, 2013 at 2:00 pm. Entombment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 21, 2013, from 5:00 pm to7:00 pm in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston, SC, 29414.
Georgeann was born September 8, 1937 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of Cornelia F. Biel and George William Biel. She attended schools in Charleston, graduating from Murray High School and also attended Northern Virginia in Woodbridge,VA. Georgeann retired in 1994 from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers after serving at Fort Belvoir, VA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District.
Ann worked as Girl Scout Leader in North Alabama. She moved back to Charleston May 1973 and enjoyed her family and friends. She endured a long term painful battle with Scleroderma as well as Dementia and serious health problems and injuries. She was blessed in having a long-term health care program in her home with a staff of wonderful caregivers, nurses and doctors.
Georgeann was a product of the greatest generation living her early years in Charleston with fifteen wonderful aunts and uncles. She married Bill Dempsey in 1956 and they had two beautiful daughters, Pam and Kim. They moved to Jacksonville, Fl, Huntsville, Al, Alexandria and Dale City, VA. In 1973 they returned to their home in Charleston and enjoyed their family and friends. They enjoyed traveling in their motor home. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter, Betsy Ross of Charleston, SC and Occoquan, Va.
Georgeann is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Bill Dempsey of Charleston, SC, two daughters, Pamela Ann D. Turner and her husband Lloyd, Kimberly Lynn Vendrick and her husband Robert E.Vendrick, Jr, three grandchildren, Trey and his wife Amanda, Ryan, Caroline and great-granddaughter Makayla.
