George "Tripp" Lowndes Williams III

George "Tripp" Lowndes Williams III, born on September 12, 2003, in Macon, Georgia, joined our Lord on December 19, 2024. His funeral service will be held Thursday, December 26, 2024, in the Summerall Chapel, The Citadel, 171 Moultrie Street at 2:00 pm and the interment in the Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in Summerall Chapel, The Citadel for visitation.

From a young age, Tripp was defined by his contagious joy and his pursuit of excellence in all things. Above all else, his faith in Jesus and sacrificial love defined his brief but impactful journey. The son of George Lowndes Williams II and Emily Ann Boney, Tripp was a leader and a light to all who knew him.

From the classroom to the field, Tripp gave glory to God in everything he did. He was a decorated high school athlete, lettering in baseball and football. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer. After high school, Tripp continued his football career at The Citadel. While attending The Citadel, Tripp was an academic officer for Kilo Company, an executive member of Alpha Epsilon Delta, the health preprofessional honor society, and was repeatedly recognized as a member of the Dean’s List, Honor’s Program, and was a Citadel Scholar.

Along with his parents, Tripp leaves behind his loving siblings: three sisters, Emily Belle Williams, Margaret Leigh Williams, Katherine Wylly Williams, and a brother, Cullen Hudson Williams. Tripp is also survived by two aunts, Leigh Leigh (Baumer) Baumbach of Birmingham, AL, Belle (Link) Baker of Atlanta, GA, and an uncle, Peter Williams of Darien, GA. Additionally, he is survived by two grandmothers, Phala Enzor of Hanceville, AL and Johanna Williams of Darien, GA, and six cousins: Virginia (Nicholas) Elmer, Biz (Jeremiah) Howell, Will (Genna) Baumbach, Mary Grant Baumbach, Brewer Baker, and Lawson Baker.

Tripp was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Peter Boney and Charlton Williams. He leaves behind a legacy of love and a model of a life lived by faith in Jesus Christ. He lived every moment for those around him, always putting others before himself. Though he has passed, Tripp’s joyful smile and compassionate heart will continue to impact and inspire all those who knew him.

As we remember Tripp, we honor a young man who carried himself with wisdom and humility beyond his years. Those who survive Tripp will forever cherish him and keep his memory alive by imitating his life lived for Christ and the love he showed others.

Memorials may be made to The Citadel Scholarship Program, The Citadel Kenya Medical Camp, and FCA at The Citadel.
