George Wright Sports

George Wright Sports, 95, of North Charleston, South Carolina, widower of Frances Lorine Stidham Sports entered into eternal rest Monday, July 11, 2022. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 15, 2022 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 11:00 am.  Interment with Military Honors to follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday one hour prior to the service.

George was born January 15, 1927 in Rhems, SC, son of the late Charlie Wright Sports and Mellie Gibson Sports.  In 1945 he joined the U.S. Army and George and Frances were united in marriage happily together for 75 years.  From 1946 - 1959 they had seven children.  In 1959 George worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard and retired in 1988.    

He is survived by 25 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. He was dedicated to his family and church. He was a member of Lydia Baptist Church for 61 years and a Deacon for 50 years.
