George Edmund Schurlknight

February 9, 1934 — January 26, 2018

George Edmund Schurlknight, 83, of Wando, South Carolina, husband of the late Doris Manning Schurlknight joined his heavenly father on Friday, January 26, 2018. His memorial service will be held at the graveside on Thursday, February 1, 2018 in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Road at 2:00 pm. Friends and family are invited to attend. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.

George was born February 9, 1934 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Woodrow Wilson Schurlknight and the late Grace Elizabeth Schurlknight. He served in the United States Air Force where he became an aircraft mechanic, later he worked as an inspector on the Charleston Air Force Base until retirement. George was a member of the North Charleston Mason Lodge and a long time member of Life Baptist Church in St. Stephens, SC. George was also a volunteer firefighter in North Charleston and Alvin, South Carolina. He completed his family when he married his childhood friend, Doris. He loved his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren, his gentle, faithful goodness shined upon everyone who had the pleasure to know him.

He is survived by step-son, Joe L. Wells (Paula) of Wando, SC; grandchildren, Jeannie Stamey (Duane) of Darien, GA, Amelia Wirth (Randy) of Wando, SC and Logan Wells of Asheville, NC, Sarah Adams and April Adams both of Brunswick, GA; many great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his nephew, Keith Covington.
