George Leon Pye

August 27, 1939 — September 24, 2014

George Leon Pye, Jr., 75, of North Charleston, SC, husband of Dell Rose Farrell Pye, died Wednesday, September 24, 2014. His Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Monday, September 29, 2014, in Saint John Catholic Church, 3921 St. Johns Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29405 at 10:00 a.m. Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell will be held in St. Lawrence Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road.

George was born August 27, 1939 in Charleston, SC, son of the late George Leon Pye, Sr. and Ellen Loraine Francis Pye. George graduated from Bishop England High School and was in the Army Reserve. He was a retired production manager for Lockheed Aircraft and a member of the Elks Club. He enjoyed dancing the Shag.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dell Rose of North Charleston; mother, Ellen L. Pye of Hanahan, SC; son, Tim Pye and his wife, Chanda, of Summerville, SC; grandchildren, Tristan and Trevor; two sisters, Frances L. Brewer of Goose Creek, SC and Helen E. Lovett and her husband, Jim, of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, James R. Pye and his wife, Bea, of Johns Island, SC and Edward Michael Pye of Summerville, SC; brother-in-law, Ivan Godbee of Hanahan, SC; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; George Leon Pye, Sr.; sister, Judy Pye Godbee; brother, John L. Pye; sister, Mary Pye Rucker; brother-in-law, Alfred Brewer; and sister-in-law, Noni Pye.
