George L. (Buddy) Puckhaber, Jr. died on May 17, 2026. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 22, 2026, at the Lutheran Church of The Redeemer, 714 Riverdale Drive, Charleston, SC, 29407 at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends at the church an hour prior to the service. Burial will be private. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

He was born in Riverside Infirmary (now called the Jonathan Lucas House) on Thanksgiving Day, November 29, 1934. He was the only son of George L. Puckhaber and Fredica Siemers Altman. He was the fourth member of the Puckhaber family to be Christened George Louis.

Buddy attended the schools of Charleston, graduating from Rivers High School in 1952 and The Citadel in 1956 where he earned a BS degree in Civil Engineering. In 1990 he retired as Director of Planning, Southern Division Naval Facilities Engineering Command. He then worked as a project engineer for Soil Consultants, Inc. of Charleston from where he retired in 1999. He was a Professional Engineer in South Carolina, and a former president of The Civil Engineers Club of Charleston.

In 1961 he married Margaret A. Phillips on Easter Sunday in the Lutheran Church of The Redeemer, Charleston. They had two children, George L Puckhaber of Los Angeles, and Rhonda P Myers of Charleston. His survivors are his wife, son, and daughter, son-in-law Scott Myers, and grandson Noah E Myers.
