George Guignard Lucas Palmer, beloved husband of Anne Spencer Palmer, passed away on 8 December 2024 from complications from heart and kidney failure.
Born in Charleston on July 3, 1940, he was the son of Admiral George G. Palmer and Frances Deliesseline Kirk. He grew up on both coasts due to his father's Naval career, but always considered Charleston his home. He graduated from Christ School in Arden, NC, and from the University of South Carolina.
He served as an officer in the Marine Corps, proudly serving his country as an infantry officer, culminating with two tours in Viet Nam from 1964-1966. After returning to the US, George graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law, practicing law in Washington, DC and Hilton Head, SC. After retirement, he settled at his home on Wadmalaw Island.
In addition to his wife, Annie, he is survived by his sons, Gig of Sullivan's Island and Trenholm (Natalia) of Greensboro, NC, as well as his step-children, Spencer Rigsby (Phillip) of Naples, FL and Beau Ginn (Maddi) of Layton, UT. Also left to cherish their 'Cody' are granddaughters, Madeline Rigsby and Angelica Palmer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ School, 500 Christ School Rd., Arden, NC 28704 or to the Lone Star Dog Ranch Rescue, 10030 CR 288, Anna, TX 76409 Semper Fi, my Marine.
