George "Chip" Seabrook Oswald, Jr.

George “Chip” Seabrook Oswald Jr. 81, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Saturday, March 15, 2025. Chip was born February 10, 1944 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late George Seabrook Oswald, Sr. and Zuleita “Dicki” Burn Oswald Mikell. Born and raised on James Island, Chip was an avid sailor in his youth, sailing the original Sea Island One Design sailboats. Chip served in the US Coast Guard. Following his service he returned home to James Island where he worked for SCDNR, SCE&G, and Charleston County. In his later years he enjoyed watching the rise and fall of the tide from his front porch seat overlooking the backside of Clark Sound.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Georganna Oswald.

He is survived by his son, George "Skipper" Seabrook Oswald, III (Kristin); two daughters, Jennifer Oswald, Julia Oswald; brother, Lindsay Oswald (Vanessa); and sister, Leita Shroyer (Phillip). As well as, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of extended family.

His Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 21, 2025 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends Friday, one hour prior to the service.
