George Allen Mitchum Sr.

George Allen Mitchum Sr., 75, of Jamestown, South Carolina, husband of Barbara Allen Mitchum entered into eternal rest Saturday, February 24, 2024. His graveside service will be held Thursday, February 29, 2024 in Halfway Creek Cemetery, 5359 Halfway Creek Road at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel. 1494 Mathis Ferry Rd., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.

George was born July 29, 1948 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Allen  Mitchum and Etta Marie Brown Mitchum.  He worked in the construction industry and specialized in drywall and painting. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and his special hobbies.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; three children: George Allen Mitchum Jr. (Brett) of Huger, SC, David Anthony Mitchum Sr. (Lynn) of Huger, SC and Tracy Ann Freeman (Gerald) of Jamestown; six grandchildren: Kimberly Flathmann (Roger), Brittany Mitchum (Randy), Allen Mitchum (Camrynn), Lauren Freeman, Peyton Freeman, and Axel Gaskins; five great grandchildren: Kynlee, Luna, Beau, Chase, and Finley; two sisters, Brenda Thomas (Glenn) and Diane Marschke; and many loved nieces and nephews. 

He is predeceased by his parents; grandson, David Anthony Mitchum, Jr.; and brother, Randy Wirth.
