Mr. Martin was born on December 25, 1942 in Mobile, Alabama, the son of the late Lonzy Marshall Martin and the late Ruby Bradley Martin Rooke. He was a retired real estate developer, general contractor, realtor, and real estate appraiser. He was a licensed commercial pilot, a two-term former President of the Charleston Trident Home Builders Association, a former
Chairman of the National Bank of South Carolina Summerville advisory board, a former chairman of the Cathedral Academy school board, a Federal Court expert witness and a business consultant. Curtis’ hobbies included enjoyment of his family, work, flying, mountains, Arabian horses, Southern gospel music, traveling and studying tax and estate law.

Throughout his life, he worshipped the Lord at Christ's Sanctified Holy Church, Cathedral of Praise, and Seacoast Church. Of all of his accomplishments he considered this his life theme: Shepherd and The Lost Sheep. (Luke 15:4-7) He said it's strange that Jesus would leave 99 sheep to search for the one - unless you were that one - THAT ONE WAS ME.
