George Manning Lupton, 84, of North Charleston, SC, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011, in the Hospice Center of Mt. Pleasant.
Born July 1, 1926 in Palm Beach, FL he was one of 11 children of Will A. Lupton and Dollie K. Mason. He was the owner of Lupton's Paint and Body Shop for 35 years, a lifetime member of Chicora Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class at Deer Park Baptist.
Mr. Lupton is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen K. Lupton; daughter, Faye L. Stephens and her husband Ed all of North Charleston, SC; three sisters: Daisy Jones and Libby Evans both of Walterboro, SC and Dora Gerard of NC; four grandchildren: Tyra L. Morey and her husband William of Goose Creek, SC, Troy Stephens and his wife Cindi of North Charleston, SC, Timothy L. Taylor of CA and Theron L. Taylor of Ridgeville, SC; five great-grandchildren: Gabrielle Lee of Goose Creek, SC, Conner Stephens of North Charleston, SC, Alexis, Lex and Seth Taylor and their mom, Angel Smoak of Summerville, SC; many nieces, nephews and cousins who he loved very much. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, George Elaine "Georgie" DeSilva.
The funeral service will be held in Deer Park Baptist Church, Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 3:30 PM. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, Friday between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Deer Park Baptist Church, 8875 University Boulevard, North Charleston, SC 29406 and/or Hospice of Charleston Foundation, 676 Wando Park Boulevard, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
