Entered into eternal rest on the evening of April 1, 2011, PO1 George Edward Kammerer, Jr., USN (Ret.) widower of Kathleen "Kay" Campbell Kammerer. Residence, North Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral services in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTH AREA CHAPEL, 2119 Dorchester Road, N. Charleston, Tuesday, April 5, , 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Plantation Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Stuhr's North Area Chapel Monday between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m.
George was born February 14, 1923 in Charleston, SC, a son of the late George Edward Kammerer and the late Edna Irene Odom Kammerer. He was a retired World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy as a 1st Class Petty Officer. George also retired from Cummins Engine Company. He had many hobbies which included ham radio, bowling, electronics and carpentry projects.
Surviving are his children, George E. Kammerer, III and wife, Pamela, Michael J. Kammerer, Patricia Grise and Diane Kammerer, all of North Charleston; a sister, Betty K. Fellers of Columbia, SC; two grandchildren, Christopher Kammerer and Sean Kammerer; a great granddaughter, Haley Isis Kammerer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
