George Ollman Hays, Jr., "Pepa", 93, owner of Patriots Farm in McClellanville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at the Hospice Center of Charleston. Mr. Hays was born April 7, 1920 in Lexington, Kentucky, to the late George O. and Lucy Creel Hays. He was the youngest of three children and their only son. In 1942 George enlisted in the United States Army to serve his country during World War II. As a Captain he served in North Africa and later commanded an ordinance company with the 7th and 3rd Army in the European Theater of operations. After his honorable discharge in 1945, George became a successful businessman who founded Briteline Molding and Manufacturing in Summerville, SC, which is still in business today as Briteline Extrusions. Upon his retirement in the early nineties, he and his wife, Faye, started a family strawberry farm in McClellanville, SC, appropriately named Patriots Farm. His interest in the farm declined after the death of Faye in November 2006. In addition to Faye, George was preceded in death by his parents, a Son Gary L. Russell, and sister Jessie Kilzer of Colorado and Laurane Schnorbus of Texas.

George is survived by his children, William Gerald Russell (Letty), Joan Russell Johnson (Harold), Michael S. Russell (Amanda), and Donna Russell Dodds (Gerald); grandchildren, Stephen Russell, Tara Hughes, Kelly Gardner, Craig Johnson, Jason Russell, Raynee Hamilton, Sonny Russell, Hailey Russell, Stephanie Russell, Justin Russell, Drew Russell, Courtney Kinowski, Whitney Breckenridge, and Hollen Dodds; and eighteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by nieces, Nancy Kilzner Dick of Colorado, Laurane Schnorbus of Texas; nephew, Robert Glenn Dick of Connecticut; and close family friend, Eva Davis of Greeleyville, SC.
