George E. Griffin

George E. Griffin, 78, of Mount Pleasant, SC, husband of Ann Holling Griffin, entered into eternal rest Saturday, July 30, 2022. His Memorial Service will take place Saturday, December 10, 2022 at the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Rd., at 2:00pm.  Interment to follow at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens.  Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.

George was born December 7, 1943 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Hampton M. Griffin and Erlene Fickling Griffin.  George faithfully served his country with the Army National Guard (HHC 1/118th INF) and retired after 20 years.  While serving, he worked as a machinist at the Charleston Naval Shipyard and later at the Ralph H. Johnson Veterans Hospital.  He was also a lifelong member of the Marion Marauders and the Elks Club.  In his spare time, George enjoyed helping to coach sports for the Mount Pleasant youth.   He always loved to play golf with his golfing buddies (i.e. "The Dirty Old Men's Club").  He will be sorely missed by those who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years; daughter, Robin Richardson and son, Charlie Griffin (Maureen), both of Mount Pleasant; one grandson, Chandler Richardson and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Hampton, and two sisters, Pat and Betty.
