George Greene, 93, of Charleston, South Carolina, widower of Sylvia Ginsberg Greene entered into eternal rest Monday, July 10, 2017. His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 12, 2017 in Synagogue Emanu-El, 5 Windsor Drive at 3:00 p.m. Interment, Emanu-El Cemetery (Maryville). Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
George was born June 13, 1924 in Newark, NJ, son of the late Abraham Greenstein and Rose Warech Greenstein. He was a retired clothier and his encore profession was with his Palmetto Carriage Family. He was a member of Synagogue Emanu-El and the Elks Club. George and Sylvia, married for 66 years, were a loving, caring and generous couple who opened their home and hearts to countless others. George loved all and all loved him.
George is survived by his daughter, Renee J. Greene (Dr. Michael Fish) of Southwest Ranches, FL; two grandchildren: Brandon A. Fish and Gilah I. Fish; nephew, Harvey Yaschik (Betty) and their children, Margo Tockerman (Steve) and Jeffrey Yaschik; niece, Sharon Cohan and her children, Marcie Rosenberg (David) and Elaine Fischer (Lynn Nusl); nephew, Dennis Yaschik (Marsha) and their children, Michael Yaschik (Ariella) and Mark Yaschik (Karly); great-nieces and great- nephews; and many loving co-workers and friends. He was predeceased by his son, Steven R. Greene.
The family will be receiving visitors at the family home, 34 Town Creek Drive, Charleston, Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and again from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 11 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
