George Edward Field, 81, of Charleston, SC husband of Virginia Vassar Field, entered into eternal rest Sunday, December 28, 2014. His funeral service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2014 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Pkwy., Charleston, SC 29414 at 10:00 am. Interment with military honors will be held in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

George was born July 6, 1933 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, son of the late Floyd E. Field and the late Clara Simmons Field. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1985 with rank of Master Chief Aviation Ordnanceman.

He is survived by his spouse, Virginia Vassar Field of Charleston, SC; step-sons, Stewart I. Craig Jr. of Montevallo, AL and John Vance Craig of San Diego, CA; and step-daughter, Sally Vincent of Woodbridge, VA.
