George Joseph Drury

September 21, 1925 — April 7, 2013

Chief George Joseph Drury, US Navy, Ret., 87, of Summerville, SC,entered into eternal rest Sunday, April 7, 2013. A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2013 in Plantation Memorial Gardens at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, Tuesday from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.

George was born September 21, 1925 in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of Edward Drury and Mary Higgins Drury. He married Helen E Gulley and together they started their family with the birth of their only son Joey. They were married 64 years. His naval career as Chief Store Keeper spanned 22 years and was followed by a career in civil service. He was a member of the American Legion #166, the Fleet Reserve, the DAV and NAS.

He is survived by his son, William J. "Joey" Drury, Sr. and his wife Lisa, grandson, William J. Drury, Jr., and his wife Stephanie, great grandsons: David Smith and William "Joey" J. Drury, III all of Summerville; nephew: Tommy Drury and his wife Denise of Providence, RI and many great nephews. His parents, wife, two sisters and brother preceded him in death.
