George Godfrey Brownell

George Godfrey Brownell, 83, husband of Naomi Hasselmeyer Brownell of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, died Thursday, October 18, 2012. The relatives and friends of George Brownell are invited to attend his Funeral Service at the graveside on Saturday, October 20, 2012 in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Road, Mt. Pleasant at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends Friday, October 19, 2012 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

George was born on November 26, 1928 in Sullivans Island, South Carolina, son of the late Charles Raymond Brownell and Kathrine Thieson Brownell. He was the owner/operator of Henry's Family Restaurant, was a cabinet maker and was an avid hunter and fisherman. A member of Stella Maris Catholic Church, he was also a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Naomi Brownell of Mount Pleasant, SC; three daughters, Christine Brownell of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Kit Brownell of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Julie Brownell of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and one sister, Madeline Dubbe of Philadelphia, PA.
