Mr. Gene A. McFadden of Hanahan passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017. He is survived by his wife Sandra McFadden, his children Donald McFadden (Sharon), Robert McFadden (Heather), Monica McFadden, Robert Call III (Anna Liese) and Alice Bryant (Randy), and his grandchildren Donald, Paul, Benjamin and Shawn McFadden, Will, Caroline, and Callyn Bryant and Trey Horton.
Gene was born December 28, 1930 in Collins, New York. He was a graduate of Brevard College and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He spent his career in service to his country as an air traffic control electronics technician with NAVELEX - Vallejo, the FAA and NAVELEX - Charleston. After traveling the world for over forty years he retired from NAVELEX - Charleston in 1996 to take on the leisure life of a retiree and grandfather. His hobby was his backyard fish pond that he took great pride in managing until health issues no longer allowed him to take care of it.
His funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2017 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road at 12:00 pm. Interment with military honors will be held at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel.
