Gene William Dempsey

Gene William Dempsey, 74, of Hanahan, SC, died Sunday, November 20, 2016. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2016, in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park; pallbearers are Troy Dempsey, Chad Dempsey, Rodney Dempsey, Jake Dempsey, Jr., Brian Jackson, and Donovan Stevenson. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:30 pm until the time of the service. Gene was born January 26, 1942, in Charleston, SC, son of the late Heyward Cecil Dempsey and Thelma Edna Hiott Dempsey. He was a graduate of Bamberg High School and retired as a quality control specialist with Lockheed Aircraft Co. He was a member of the North Charleston United Methodist Church, Dorchester Blue Lodge #369 AFM and the Omar Shrine. He is survived by his two sons, Michael S. Dempsey of Hanahan, SC and Derrick Dempsey of Cocoa Beach, FL; two grandsons, Kyle Dempsey and Kevin Dempsey both of Atlanta, GA; two brothers, Jake Dempsey of Holly Hill, SC and Robert Dempsey (Betty) of Branchville, SC. He was preceded in death by his wife, Becky Davis Dempsey.
