CPO Gary Floyd Odekirk, USN (Ret) 66, of Ladson, SC, husband of Margo Odekirk, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, in a local hospital.
Born July 16, 1943 in Salt Lake City, UT he was one of four children of Floyd Odekirk and Zelda Davis Odekirk. Mr. Odekirk served 24 years in the Navy and retired as a Chief Petty Officer. He worked for the San Diego Trolley System for 13 years. He was a craftsman who created jewelry boxes and doll furniture for charities and church fund raisers. He and his wife moved to Ladson in 2006 to be closer to family.
Mr. Odekirk is survived by his wife of 32 years, Margo Odekirk of Ladson, SC; daughters: Patricia Franklyn of Snohomish, WA, Susan Raniere of Seattle, WA and Janet Uytingco and her husband Elmer of Charleston, SC; brother, Mont Odekirk and his wife Frances of Colville, WA; sister, Judy Reedy and her husband John of Spokane, WA; granddaughters, Stephanie Clark of Los Angeles, CA and Tammi Church and her husband Brent of Issaquah, WA; grandson, Bobby Franklyn of Everett, WA. He was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Odekirk.
The memorial service will be held in First Southern Methodist Church, Sunday, July 11, 2010 at 12:30 PM. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Southern Methodist Church of Summerville, 9715 Miles Jamison Road, Summerville, SC 29485.
