Gary Lee Morris, 68, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Kathyanne Joyner Morris died Wednesday, April 22, 2015. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 25, 2015 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Mount Pleasant Chapel on Friday, April 24, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.
Gary was born December 13, 1946 in Greenup, Kentucky, son of the late Paul Morris and the late Ethel Adkins Morris Schneider. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Commendation Medal. Gary was also selected to be a member of the "Colonel's Orderly", an old and time honored position steeped in the military tradition of the United States Army. When he left the military he worked as a Director in the Food and Beverage Industry and was a local Antique Dealer.
He is survived by his wife, Kathyanne Morris of Mount Pleasant, SC; his step-mother, Bulah Morris of Huber Heights, OH; two sons, Paul Morris of Mount Pleasant, SC and Keith Duerr and his wife, Carmen, of Naples, FL; one daughter, Rhonda Duerr Girdner and her husband, Troy, of Corbin, KY; two sisters, Karen Miller and her husband, Gary, of Piqua, OH and Alma Matthews and her husband, Todd, of Huber Heights, OH; two brothers, Herb Payne of Zephr Hills, FL and Carl Payne and his wife, Marcia, of Peebles, OH; ten nieces and nephews and seventeen grand nieces and nephews.
The essence of Gary Morris is a life filled with love, always laughter and always impeccable style.
