Gary Alan Irvine, 85, of Awendaw, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Saturday, February 17, 2024. His graveside service will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024 in the Wilson Cemetery, 761 Wilson Cemetery Road in Awendaw at 2:00 pm. A reception will follow in Ocean Grove United Methodist Church. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.

Gary was born April 17, 1938 in Versailles, Pennsylvania, son of the late Albert L. Irvine and the late Madeline C. Irvine. Raised in the Lowcountry, he attended Moultrie High School, was a proud US Air Force veteran, and retired from Charleston Naval Shipyard. Gary was an active member of Ocean Grove United Methodist Church until the COVID-19 epidemic of 2020. He will be remembered as a loyal friend who was a loving and devoted man to his family and his late wife of almost 54 years, Caroline Colemane Irvine.

He is survived by three grandchildren, Ashlen Thrasher (Philip Dickson) of Georgetown, SC, Megan Thrasher and Kristan Thrasher, both of Camden, SC; and two great grandchildren, Opal C. Gattis and Flora C. Gattis also from Camden, SC. He was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline Irvine, and two sons, Gary A. Irvine, Jr., and Lt. Col. Robert H. Thrasher, Jr.
