Gary Franklin Brinson, 71, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Sunday, July 13, 2014. His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2014 in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun Street at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Chapel. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.Gary was born September 27, 1942 in Charleston, South Carolina. He was the son of Emile Roscoe and Dorothy Mae Grayson Brinson. Gary was an avid boxer in his younger days and boxed Golden Gloves at County Hall. He worked as a contractor and was the former owner of Brinson's Beef and Brew on James Island. He is survived by his sons, Monty (Dana) Brinson and Shane (Amy) Brinson of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Halee Brinson, Hunter Brinson, Hanna Brinson, Anna Grace Brinson, and Ellis Brinson; sisters, Linda (Ray) Staylor of CA, Dottie (Tommy) Mercier of AZ, Donna Wells, Sharon Diamond, and Patsy Driggers all of Charleston, SC; brother, Rocky (Jackie) Brinson of Moncks Corner, SC; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Gary was well loved in his community, always willing to lend a helping hand, and will be missed by many friends and family.
