Garry Cooper
Nale
April 23, 1944 – May 9, 2026
Garry Cooper Nale, 82, of Summerville, South Carolina, husband of Linda "Lexie" Nale entered into eternal rest Saturday, May 9, 2026. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel.
Garry was born April 23, 1944 in Crab Orchard, Tennessee, son of the late Wilbur Benton Nail and the late Lee Ann Garrison Nail. Garry Nale was a humble, kind, and generous soul whose loving nature touched everyone who crossed his path. Having the gift of conversation, Garry never met a stranger with his warm smile, and a way of making people feel at ease. A mutual friend introduced him to his wife, Lexie, and for more than twenty years they shared a joyful partnership filled with love and companionship.
Garry lived a rich life with many interests. In his younger years he played basketball and carried a lifelong love of sports. He was very patriotic and was proud to serve his country as an Army medic, a role that reflected his instinct to care for others. That same compassion guided his many years as a physical therapist and rehabilitation director, where he was known for his genuine concern for his patients.
He loved dancing, history, and the simple joy of being outdoors. Some of his happiest days were spent trout fishing along the Tellico River in Tennessee or relaxing at Edisto Island in South Carolina. Garry also had a playful side that delighted in making people laugh, and his sense of humor was always present, even during his long illness.
A talented writer, Garry had a way with words that he often focused on his love of history. He adored his dogs — Webster, Diva, and Stache — who were constant companions and sources of joy. And when it came to holidays, no one loved beautiful decorations more than Garry, especially at Christmas time, which he looked forward to each year.
Garry will always be remembered for his generous and loving heart. He was a devoted husband to Lexie, reminding her every day just how deeply he loved her. Though his daily presence will be profoundly missed by Lexie, his family, and his friends, his memory will live on and continue to brighten their lives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children: Garry Nale, Jr. (Trish) and Erin Powers (Jeff); grandchildren: Ethan Nale, Liam Powers, Cara Powers and Jonah Powers; brothers: Ted Nale (Lillian), Earl Nail (Hazel), Carl Nail (Jena) and Robert "Bob" Nail (Betty); many loved nieces and nephews including close ones: Karen O'Hara and Ronnie Nail.
