Gail was born on September 23, 1948, in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of the late Edgar A. Clapp and the late Marguerite Mills Clapp. She worked for many years as a receptionist at the Medical University of South Carolina, where her warmth and kindness were appreciated by both patients and colleagues.
A woman of deep Catholic faith and unwavering dedication to service, Gail was an active member of several organizations throughout her life. She proudly served with the Unit 269 Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association, where she also held the position of Regional President Southeast from 2017 to 2018. She was a member of the Hibernians and the Ladies Guild, and served as a Eucharistic Minister at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Her time and energy were spent in service to others, and she was always ready to lend a helping hand, offer comfort, or share a prayer.
Gail was known for her generous spirit, quick wit, and deep love for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved to laugh, have fun, and was a true social butterfly who cherished spending time with friends and family. A huge Elvis Presley fan, she often brought joy and music wherever she went.
She is survived by her loving husband, Frederick; her son, Robert Becker (John Michael Nix) (Timothy Butler) of Charleston; her daughter, Julia Becker of Charleston; her daughter-in-law, Lisa Becker (née Fuentes); and her grandchildren: Jacob S. Becker, Joshua Patrick, Dovid Patrick, Ben Patrick, Sarah Rose Becker, and Zachary Patrick.
