Frederick "Fritz" George Missel, Jr., 63, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Kerry Mobley Missel entered into eternal rest Sunday, June 25, 2017. His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2017 J. HENRY STUHR INC., 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 12:00 p.m. The family will receive friends in Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.
Fritz was born May 15, 1954 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Frederick George Missel, Sr., and Alma Elizabeth Nolte Missel. He grew up in Downtown Charleston and James Island. He graduated from Ft. Johnson High School and College of Charleston, where he played tennis for the Cougars. Fritz was a lifetime member of the Alumni Association and Cougar Club, Charleston Elks Lodge and Charleston Rifle Club. He retired from Roadway Express after 25 years and was retiring from Southeastern Freight Lines at the end of the month after 13 years of service. Fritz loved College of Charleston basketball, boating, golfing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Kerry and his son Charleston Rutledge Missel both of Charleston, SC; three sisters, Brenda Missel Stevens (Bill) of Charleston, SC, Marcia Missel Moye (Matt) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Debra Missel Simmons (Artie) of Walterboro, SC; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to College of Charleston Cougar Club, 307 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29401.
