Fred William Hofmeister

Fred William Hofmeister, 83, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Mary (Jo) Anderson Hofmeister died Saturday, October 5, 2013. The relatives and friends of Fred Hofmeister are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 in Palmetto Presbyterian Church, 1720 Carolina Park Blvd., Mount Pleasant at 11:00 am. Burial will take place in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens at 1:30 pm. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Fred was born on December 19, 1929 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late August C. Hofmeister and the late Emma L. Baumann Hofmeister. He graduated from Charleston High School and attended The Citadel before joining the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Fred was a charter member of Palmetto Presbyterian Church, was a former Scout Leader with the Boy Scouts of America and retired from the United States Naval Supply Center of Charleston, SC.

He is survived by wife of 48 years, Mary (Jo) Hofmeister of Mount Pleasant, SC; one son - Fred "Fritz" Hofmeister, II and his wife, Elizabeth, of Tampa, FL; twin grandchildren, granddaughter - Claudia Leland Hofmeister of Tampa, FL; grandson - Jacob Augustus "Augie" Hofmeister of Tampa, FL.
