Fred James Hofmann, III, 95, of Charleston, South Carolina, widower of Edith Gatlin Hofmann entered into eternal rest Tuesday, December 5, 2017. The family will receive friends Friday, December 8, 2017 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 9, 2017 in St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 200 South Goose Creek Blvd, Goose Creek at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.

Fred was born July 10, 1922 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Fred J. Hofmann, II., and Emily Estee Hofmann. He was an U.S. Navy Veteran and retired Charleston office supply salesman. Fred was member of the Masons, and active in the Order of Rainbow for girls.He is survived by his daughter, Sheila Black Gaither (William) of Goose Creek, SC; sister, Grace Smith (Farrow) of Las Vegas, NV; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Hofmann Armes.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 200 S. Goose Creek Blvd, Goose Creek, SC 29455.
