Fred Upper Davis, 80, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Loretta Diggs Davis entered into eternal rest Sunday, October 1, 2017. His funeral service will be held Thursday, October 5th, in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun Street, Charleston at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road, James Island, SC. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 4th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Stuhr's Downtown Chapel.

Fred was born May 18, 1937 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Fred Upper Davis and Olivia Utsey Davis. He was a United States Marine Corp veteran and was a retired Environmental Health Supervisor for DHEC. Fred was a graduate of the University of South Carolina where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha's Gold Chapter and was also a member of the Charleston Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Loretta Diggs Davis; daughter, Deborah "Debbie" Davis Rose (John) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two sons, Fred "Scooter" U. Davis, III and James "J.R." Richard Davis both of Charleston, SC; sister, Janice Olivia Moriarty (Bill) of Louisville, KY; brother, John Michael Davis (Lee) of Orlando, FL; and nieces and nephews.
