Franklin Elmore Robson III, 76, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Thursday, December 14, 2017. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun Street. Burial will be private in St. Philip's Churchyard.
Franklin was born February 4, 1941 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Franklin Elmore Robson, Jr. and Ursule Hass Robson. A United States Air Force Veteran, he served during the Viet Nam War. He graduated from The High School of Charleston, the University of the South, Sewanee, TN and the University of South Carolina School of Law, later retiring from Trident Technical College as a professor. Franklin was a member of St. Philip's Church and a former member of the Vestry and sang in the choir, the Charleston Men's Chorus, the Charleston County Council, the Carolina Yacht Club and a former member of the German Friendly Society.
He is survived by his fiancé, Sarah Reid Crow of Charleston, SC; four daughters, Liles R. Eanes (Brian) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Elizabeth R. Jordan (Michael) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Katherine R. Matthews (Brooks) of Daniel Island, SC, and Ann R. Bomgren (Seth) of Charleston, SC; sister, Lucy Robson Glenn (Jim) of Charleston, SC; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline Buchan Robson.
