Franklin "Frank" Evander Hanna, Jr.

Franklin Evander Hanna, Jr., (Frank), 71, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Joye McElrath Hanna, entered into eternal rest Friday, September 30, 2022. 

Frank was born October 5, 1950 in Hemingway, South Carolina, son of the late Franklin Evander Hanna Sr. and Ethel Owens Hanna.  He was raised in Hemingway, and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. On September 21, 1973, he married his best friend and love of his life, Joye McElrath. He began a career in the mortgage banking business in Florence, SC, and later continued in Charleston, where he retired after 45 years in the industry. Frank had a huge heart, and loved spending time with his family and friends, especially on fishing adventures with his children and grandchildren. He was a faithful and active member of East Cooper Baptist Church and a fiercely proud and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.       

He is survived by his son Franklin Lloyd 'Hank' Hanna (Deetz) of Charleston, SC; his daughters, Amber Forbes (Will) of North Charleston, SC, and Tricia Coleman of Raleigh, NC; four cherished grandchildren, Greyson Hanna, Charlie Hanna, Sam Hanna, and Owen Forbes; his sister, Debbie Hanna (Tosha); and his brother, Tim Hanna, as well as many nieces and nephews.

His Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022 in the East Cooper Baptist Church, 361 Egypt Road, at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel. Memorials may be made to East Cooper Baptist Church, 361 Egypt Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464, designated for: "Youth Missions".
