Frankie Jean Fickling Miller, Ph.D., 69, of Charleston, SC, wife of Kenneth G. Mihalik, entered into eternal rest Saturday, March 21, 2015. Her funeral service will be held in Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, Florence, SC, Friday, March 27, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends Thursday in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun Street, from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. and from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m.
Frankie was born January 25, 1946 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Frank L. Fickling and Virginia Dandridge Fickling. She was the retired Dean of The Culinary Institute of Charleston at Trident Technical College and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Frankie earned her undergraduate degree from Winthrop College, Masters from Washington College and Doctorate from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Miller is survived by her husband of Charleston, SC; her mother of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two brothers, Raymond L. Fickling (Jane) of Dallas, TX, and J. Donald Fickling (Melissa) of West Chester, OH; mother-in-law, Anna S. Mihalik; two brother-in-laws, George Mihalik, and Thomas Mihalik (Traci); four nieces: Lauren Fickling, Michelle Fickling (Forrest Gherlone), Hannah Fickling, and Grace Fickling; and nephew, Jackson Mihalik. Additional members include life-long friends of the XO Bunch family.
